Hayati Binti Harun
Hayati, 41, used to work at an office before joining WOW’s program. WOW’s microcredit program allowed her to grow her own Keropok and Kuih-Muih business through the capital and skills provided.
A main issue Hayati used to face was that her 9 to 5 work schedule meant that she didn’t have enough time to spend with her kids and look after them. By starting her own business, she has the freedom to work around her other responsibilities which has allowed her to spend more quality time with her family. Running her own business also means she no longer has to wait for her monthly salary but gets a constant income on a weekly basis as she sells her products.
The training and coaching provided to Hayati has allowed her to expand her marketing and networking opportunities which has allowed her to get more customers. She now sells her Keropok and Kuih to many shops on a daily basis which ensures she is always sold out. In addition to that, the training and coaching also exposed Hayati to other markets and trends and helped her stay motivated in overcoming the challenges she faced.
The financial management skills Hayati has learnt has allowed her to understand how much she makes and spends. This added with her increase in income has allowed her to start saving now. This helped her create some security in facing any future issues and challenges.
WOW’s program has not only had a positive impact on Hayati’s financial situation and relationship with her family, especially her children. She now also has time to connect with her friends and have a social life. This has meant she is more involved with community activities and giving back to her community.
